mind_over_metal: (mentor archetype)

In addition to the obvious mutant interest, Charles is struck by Rogue's sense of insecurity. Even though the future clearly isn't all peachy, she does have the school and the knowledge that she's not alone in what she's going through -- there's obviously other factors at work here. And Charles is curious to know what they are! He wants to help! And he is very clearly not put off by grumpiness or guardedness at all.

And those Professor-ly feelings are only increased by the way that Rogue sees him. Charles's sense of responsibility is only increased by all of this -- it's like he's taking care of the future here a lot more literally than one usually expects it to be. While he realizes that he is his own person and not necessarily what Rogue sees him to be, he nevertheless feels a duty to not disappoint. It's both encouraging and intimidating for him to find so many people with so much faith in him. Mainly, it just inspires him even more strongly to be there for her (and the others) in the way that they need him to be.

and feed them on your dreams/ the one they picked, the one you'll know by/don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry/ so just look at them and sigh and know they love you

Reverse, please!
