Varric is a dwarf and in his canon, dwarves are highly resistant to psychic shenanigans. So I imagine it being rather difficult to pull off, and there being times when all attempts simply fail spectacularly.
Jessica is a vampire, and in her canon, telepaths can't read vampires' minds, so I don't believe Charles will have any luck either.
Nefer-Tina is also dead (I clearly have an RPing type) and kept alive purely by magic. There is essentially no canon on this, so I say she's affected as normal - she won't even notice any poking around. Nef is secretly quite a lonely person. But she never really felt like anyone appreciated her or understood her until she was reawakened in the 90s (she ran away from home at a young age and disguised herself as a boy, so of course they didn't), so most of her memories are of being pretty damned alone. She'll also vividly remember dying... but despite that in the back of her mind all the time, she is still a fairly reckless thrill seeker. Good times.
