*though Charles had never been as early of a riser as Erik -- and certainly was more inclined to stay in bed, no matter what the hour -- he had always been more inclined toward mornings than people usually gave him credit for. he liked the light and the feeling of minds awakening. and over the past year now, he'd gotten used to skewing his days earlier than they'd been during his university years, first for reasons of business and then for reasons of needing routine.
