MORE THAN ONE MONTH LATER...

So there are a couple of spectacular failures with teenage/twenty-something young mutant women very fresh in Charles's mind right now. And while Charles certainly isn't transferring/substituting or anything like that with Cess in any way, he's also well aware that, just statistically speaking, he seems to have some issues with this particular demographic. And it's a weird thing for him, too, with the age differences and being seen as more of a parental figure while he's used to seeing himself as more of a big brother figure (who, granted, does act in more of a parental capacity, but there is still a definite difference between the two). So just the general situation is kind of... funky.

With that context, Charles particularly treasures the trust that Cess seems to have in him, and he really, really doesn't want to disappoint her. All of the... touchy-feely emotional stuff is still rather fraught for him, and he's probably more apparently shaky with it than he ever has been (and ever will be), as he's just come to fully realise exactly how much he falls short (and what the consequences of that can be) but hasn't had much time to work on remedying it yet.

BASICALLY he likes Cess a lot and wants to be there for her and help her, though being around her tends to make him feel more unsure about himself.
