1K comments, first impressions/relationship meme, where the hell did all of those comments come from so quickly, etc.. Be warned that I will be asking for reverses. Also, that this might take me a while, since yesterday's internet blackout left me quite behind.

Erik, you don't count, you're getting your own essay or something.

First impressions for Rogue?

[identity profile] we-have-a-rogue.livejournal.com 2011-08-29 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Professor!

Rogue is very aware of the fact that while you are a Professor X, you are not exactly her Professor. So, because you're the Professor, she kind of automatically trusts you, she's just not sure...exactly how much trust to give you because she's not sure how similar you are to the Professor she knows. Like, she really wants to ask you to help with her powers (which you may or may not see in the back of her head???) because her Professor is the one who was helping her with them, but she's not sure if there is anything you could help her with because not even older you could do much and you are still unfamiliar and stranger-ish and she does not want to ask for help. But she is very glad there is at least some sort of Professor in case she loses control again and the psyches go crazy. Basically she wants to see what you can do and see if you are helping other people and eventually Rogue might bring it up. Eventually being way off into the future. Possibly after she's absorbed a few too many people.

Relationship meme for Vanya!

[identity profile] 00-07.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry this is late, I was waiting for Vanya and Charles' powers thread to reach a good point to comment back and then I forgot I never reversed! This is probably going to be long, so hopefully that will make up for its extreme lateness!

Vanya really likes Charles and is just so happy that he seems to not hate her. Vanya has a lot of Camp family, and she definitely is starting to consider Charles as part of it and one day she'll ask him if he minds that.

Even though she's never heard about Professor Xavier or the X-Men before being in Camp, she understand that they're very important superheroes and Vanya is kind of surprised but also excited that he's willing to help her. She trusts him, which is saying a lot because Vanya doesn't like trusting adults. She was glad that when they first met he didn't seem to care that she didn't have powers, so she knew he was nothing like Hargreeves. She's even happier now that she has what she thinks is a real reason to talk to him, and will probably use her powers as an excuse to bother him more. As much as Vanya's afraid of adults and doesn't like trusting them due to previous experiences, she craves their approval and attention, so that fact that Charles is willing to help her and talk to her makes her so happy.

ALSO, this probably seems like a minor thing, but Charles calls her by name a lot (Magneto does this too, which is an even bigger deal to her), which is a huge deal for Vanya since Hargreeves refused to call her anything but her number and she didn't even have a name until sometime after her tenth birthday. Little things like adults calling her by name or offering her advice or showing interest in her mean more to Vanya than one would think since she never got that kind of attention at home. Small things like this is why Vanya was okay with Charles looking into her mind even though she knew he was going to see some horrible things that she's afraid to tell people about.

Vanya also worries about Charles a little now that she's met Magneto and also talked to Babs a little bit about Charles and Magneto. Vanya can tell that they are (or were) really good friends, but something's wrong now and it makes her sad. Vanya has decided that they are probably each others' "most important person" and she wants to help them, but she has no idea how. She's hoping she'll figure out a way to help them because they are now part of her Camp family and she wants them to be happy!

SORRY THAT WAS SO LONG. She has a lot of feelings!

SO. Julian is taken from after his runs in X-23 and X-Men: Legacy, where he is basically a very unhappy and chewed on teenager. The culmination of the arc is that Julian is at his lowest point. He's almost violated his one ethical rule (X-Men do not kill), he's ignored his friends' overtures to the point that when he reaches out to them they don't even notice and he ultimately decides he doesn't need anyone or anything. Considering how dependent the babymutants were on each other beforehand, this is not portrayed as a healthy decision at all, and it has had dire consequences on Julian and his mental state. His year in camp has taught him that he can reach out to people sometimes and they won't just ignore him, and that he can withdraw and try and deal with everything that's happened and, more importantly, the people he's reached out to won't abandon him.

The last one is a big thing. Julian has been abandoned by everyone in his life that he trusted and loved. So when people reach out to him, even if he's not ready for it then, even if he rebuffs it, he notices. So when Charles reaches out to him, even if Julian is just "I don't need this", he registers it and it reminds him that he's not alone. He's not been abandoned, people are there and when he's ready to try to connect with them again, they'll be there. I mean, even in his "I don't need you :|" threads with Charles, there's information that he gives him that he doesn't give to people he doesn't trust. He's sending out mixed messages, and sometimes he's self-aware enough to know that they are mixed messages. And other times he is just NO FUCKS ARE GIVEN (but they are).

THIS SOUNDS SO DEPRESSING.

Anyway, the hands! The hands come up a lot. Julian thinks he's a mutilated freak because of them, and to his knowledge Charles is pretty much the only one who gets having lost something in a traumatic situation. Julian's situation wasn't helped by the fact that apparently everyone with any authority on Utopia is an asshole (ASK ANOLE ABOUT THE TIME MAGIK SENT HIM TO HELL BECAUSE HE ANNOYED HER), but he's lonely and scared and there's not really anything he can do or anyone who he could tell about what he's lost without it coming across as whining. So if it came up with Charles, he'd ... feel awkward because at least he can walk, but it is something he can open up about if Charles presented it.

Basically, Julian is a sarcastic bag of dicks who has been traumatised and Charles' reaching out to him matters. Even if he acts like an asshole about it, Julian notices and it affects him.

THIS MADE NO SENSE THE END.

UNCLE CHARLES DO YOU LOVE ME
fuzzybluebamf: (And then the Institute blew up!)

[personal profile] fuzzybluebamf 2011-09-10 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
OOC Permission granted! Kurt was thinking about his relationship with Mystique during their entire conversation, so Uncle Charles would have picked up on that anyways. And he can dig a little more without Kurt noticing, too.

KURT LIKES THE PROFESSOR is the bottom line. Even though it's a little weird that he's younger and has hair, he's still The Professor. Kurt's said as much. And even if he isn't Evo Professor, he is by association a man that Kurt deeply respects and loves like family. But! He also gets that this Professor is different, which is honestly why he's maybe even a little bit more excited to get to know him. The Professor he knows is old and wise and stuff, and while he can be a bit of a jokester he is still The Professor (it's like Dumbledore or something). But Uncle Charles is closer in age to Kurt and has his own struggles with being a mutant--or that's how Kurt sees it, at least. And struggles with the not walking thing (sorry, Uncle Charles, this much is obvious). The Professor has everything together! Uncle Charles is still figuring things out. And while Kurt knows The Professor isn't infallible, Uncle Charles isn't on as high of a pedestal. So it's like he gets all the respect and love that comes with being The Professor, but he also gets all of the badgering that Kurt would otherwise NOT do to Evo Professor.

ONE DAY, WHEN KURT IS NOT DUMB, HE MIGHT NOTICE THAT UNCLE CHARLES IS UNCLE CHARLES. Then he will never get away, because that means he's family. You are doomed to be stuck with him forever, Uncle Charles. Accept it.

Super first impressions for Cess? We need to do more threading :(

[identity profile] spookmagnet.livejournal.com 2011-08-16 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I wanna know Charles' first impression of Fenris! (Especially given the uh . . . cast explosion in his intro post. >D)

[identity profile] spookmagnet.livejournal.com 2011-09-25 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
We dooo and I need to reply to Tatsumi with Tony I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN I just got so overwhelmed by somanythreads. I still have the tab open and everything!!! And then I got sick.

But once I am better and can think again, I WILL PICK UP I swear.

But yeah, Fenris' mind would be absolutely fascinating. It's all twisted up in knots that he's really just starting to unravel, years after escaping his master. XD His character quest in Act III brings him finally to a point where he can move past his slave mindset, so he's really just beginning to blossom as his own person.

And then there's the amnesia and starting to remember tiny bits thing and that would have to be interesting as well, I'm sure. XD (Fun tidbit; his 'real name', which he remembers only once, is the same as Charles' cabinmate, Leto!)

[identity profile] spookmagnet.livejournal.com 2011-09-26 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
. . . also, I know you didn't ask for a reverse, but I'll give it anyways. o/ Because I am sick and bored and thus feel like rambling.

Fenris still finds every human who doesn't automatically relegate him to the status of a lesser being slightly bewildering; while most of his friends from home aren't prejudiced, the fact is that they're highly unusual and 99% of the humans in Thedas consider the "knife-ears" to be distinctly subhuman, many going as far as viewing them as non-persons. Months in camp hasn't completely erased Fenris' expectation that humans will react to him with fear (because he's a knife-ear with a sword/axe/giant-fucking-hammer) and disdain, since that's an expectation built over the course of years, and not easily put aside.

Add to that the fact that Charles seemed so enthusiastic to learn about people, and sounded so accepting, and Fenris was just like ". . . seriously, is he for real?" It's a positive sort of bewilderment, of course, because not being considered sub . . . human . . . (THESE WORDS ARE INSUFFICIENT, ENGLISH LANGUAGE) is good! So Fenris has a vague positive, if confused, impression of Charles, and will be civil with him. He'd also be happy to talk to Charles about his world, if Charles wants to learn.

You already know what she was like when she was eleven . . .

Charles Xavier seems like a school teacher that everyone likes--the easy-going one who is encouraging about finger-painting and colouring outside the lines. Outside of the whole having mental powers and having awkward moments with his friend, he seemed sensible enough. He has obviously been through some serious stuff, which Tiffany won't ask about so soon because she is trying to exercise tact. She will check in on him as discreetly as possibly because that's what witches do. And have conversations with him because he doesn't talk down to her--not that many people do that after the initial meeting. She also appreciates him not prying into her mind.

So Charles can read minds. Leto generally has a very negative opinion of mind-readers. However, with Charles, it's different, mostly because no matter how Leto trolls him, Charles is able to respond and even stand his ground, which is enough to earn Leto's respect. But at the same time, Leto is jealous of what Charles has. He has a purpose, he has students, people who look up to him, he has people like Erik. For Leto, what Charles has is enviable. So, when Charles claims to be his friend, Leto was a little angry and stumped. He doesn't have friends! He has people who respect him or people who get close because they are masochists. No denying Charles is a masochist, it was still a pretty genuine declaration, one that Leto has no defenses against because he had never thought of wanting a friend before. And he acknowledged that Charles is pretty similar to himself, and that, verbal foreplay aside, they can actually see eye to eye.

So Leto is going to keep being a dick, but not extremely, unless Charles is willing to push through his barriers, then all bets are off. Still, he enjoys his time with Charles and he is not likely to jeopardize it without good reason to.

Likewise, Superboy is unsure about Charles. He still has issues with people being in his mind without his trust. But he does like him, mostly because M'gann likes Charles so much. He's willing to forgive that whole mind thing and take things slow. He promises not to punch you out of your wheelchair and into the cornfield mutantmom.

NECOCO AND ZEX YEEEEAAAAH

[identity profile] soviet-catboy.livejournal.com 2011-09-26 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
NECOCO THINKS THAT CHARLES IS CUTE and would not mind making out with him but! Whatever. He's a cool dude and Necoco likes being helpful, so that's been a positive thing all around. Not a whole lot of emotional investment beyond him being Jubilee's mutantmom and therefore super important. Necoco would mafia for Charles but he doubts Charles needs it.

ZEX has never seen anyone in a wheelchair before, so that was a bit of a novelty for him. Otherwise, Charles is polite, interesting, and has a good attitude about this place--he seems to roll with the punches well, and that's important to ZEX because that means there's less of a likelihood for Charles to freak out RE: ZEX and all of ZEX's horrible choices. If Charles let slip that he's a telepath, ZEX would be happy but kind of... blase about it? There are lots of psychics where he's from, so it wouldn't really be a conversation point for him, haha.

LOOKS LIKE I COMMENTED RIGHT ON TIME, THEN 8D

When Brianna first met Charles she had a hard time because... Professor X is supposed to be old and bald, not young and groovy. She's going to call him Professor X forever, just because that's his name, to her. But after Magneto showed up, she got over them being younger pretty quickly. The more muties that show up, the more used to different timelines and universes she gets.

Yes, the telepathy creeps her out. Brianna's kind of weird - she has trouble hiding her emotions from others, but she gets really uncomfortable when people see her being vulnerable. A big part of her consciousness is devoted to building herself up so that when she acts like she's totally capable and awesome and can never lose, she actually believes that. But underneath is a lot of doubt, and when people point out that part of her and force her to admit that she can't always win, she canonically gets pretty upset. :| So knowing that Charles can, at any time, go looking around in her mind and pick out any self-doubt or worry that she has, freaks her out a lot. And she doesn't really believe him when he says he won't do it if she doesn't want him to - he's an adult and adults lie to kids, the end.

BUT OVERALL, she does really like Charles. He's Professor X, so she knows he's a good guy and wouldn't purposefully do anything to hurt her. She totally doesn't get his relationship with Magneto, but she told Jubilee that she agrees with the nicknames Momfessor and Dadneto, so I think subconsciously she understands that they are married. :|a
