The exact size of the camp has yet to be determined. The entire compound is surrounded by a barrier. It's been described to me as a phase-shifted electromagnetic shield. That can't be exactly it, of course, or else someone would have made wreckage of it by now. But it's definitely composed of some sort of force rather than being a solid physical barrier. And it's properties are...
Well, obviously, it lets people in without letting them out. Though it also does do that from time to time, specific people, for no discernible reason. Once a person is able to walk through to the other side, they don't return. One only exits for the purpose of truly leaving, it seems.
And as for those who attempt to cross it, they're returned to the opposite side of camp, rather like an M.C. Escher lithograph. There are also reports that touching the barrier might result in one of the various camp effects.
