*closes his book. then opens it and lets the pages fall past his fingers like a flip book, text and diagrams blurring into indecipherable motion.*

*the CD drive pops open on its own*

*goes back over to the laptop and puts the CD back into its case. glances at the network icon -- he never did get around to checking it -- but just closes the laptop.

it's getting late. he's tired. going to the mess hall for dinner seems not worth the trouble tonight.

returns to his bag and pulls out the copy of The Once and Future King.*
