[It's early, not too long after sunrise, when the light begins to glow through the curtains and the nocturnal moaning of the zombies crossfades into rustling of the sentient plantlife. No explosions, no battles -- just an utterly normal morning.]

[ his voice is scratchy and close to Charles's ear ]

*his hand slides just under the waistband of Erik's pants, and his face is still smushed into Erik's shoulder*

...g'mornin'.

[ opens his eyes slightly as he turns his head, brushing his mouth across Charles's hair and resisting the urge to shift his hips so that Charles's hand might slip farther down ]

[there's amusement and a lazy sort of desire -- a want that's most of all a want to soak up as much of the present pleasure as possible]

*doesn't move his hand down, in fact, but tries to pull Erik closer, if that's even possible*

[ not really, but Charles's fruitless efforts don't always go unappreciated. Erik spreads his fingers from Charles's neck up into his hair, brushing across his scalp and carding through the strands unhurriedly. ]

[if a mind could purr, it would feel like this]

Careful with that, now.

Why should I be?

[ lazily obstinate, with no real challenge, and he's thus far confining his touch to the back of Charles's head, fingers still stiff from sleep ]

*tilts his head back slightly into Erik's hand*

If you make it fall out early, I'll never forgive you.

I'll probably be responsible for it eventually. May as well enjoy yourself now.

[mind_over_metal]

Never said that you should stop.

[ into his hair ]

Never said I would.

[ his fingers begin to stroke behind Charles's ear ]

*a pleased murmur as he just lets himself be petted. he turns his head a little more, part of his face becoming visible for the first time so far this morning -- not too surprisingly, it bears some absolutely ridiculous marks and creases from having been pressed against the combination of his pillow and Erik all night*

[ not to mention kinda splotchy and red. he grins a bit and pushes more firmly against Charles's head to get him to lift it, moving his free hand to the other side so that he can angle him for a kiss, completely unrepentant about morning breath ]

*and lets himself be moved with that carelessness of his, though it's been growing less and less characteristic of him. makes kind of a face but doesn't otherwise protest.*

[ that's love. ]

*or laziness. or horniness. and/or all of the above.*

[ something of all those states suffuses his mind along with the warmth of their bodies pressed together. he drops the arm behind Charles down to his back, fingers brushing past the edge of his pajama top and pushing it up with the sweep of his palm over Charles's skin. ]

*doesn't let that interrupt their kissing, the hand of the arm trapped between them worming its way around so that he can trail the backs of his fingers across Erik's chest*

[ exhales a bit sharply against his mouth at that ]

*smiles and presses in to kiss him again, continuing that light caress*

[ with the pleasure of the touch and further distraction of his mouth, Erik's own fingers have stilled on Charles's side, but he soon begins to stroke over his ribs, not aiming to distract Charles in the least but to add to his own enjoyment at the feel of his skin. his arm is curved around Charles's back and occasionally brushes the line where their bodies meet. ]

*unlike some of their more intense encounters, where the points of connection between them are like striking fire, if called upon to describe them now, Charles would see each tight press of their bodies as a warmly glowing dot that could be connected, each to its neighbor, drawing a pathway that's something like home.*

[ pauses and then pulls the kiss apart, though he doesn't go far -- it's not meant to break one of those points but rather create a new one by tipping their heads together. they're still so wrapped up in each other that Charles will be able to feel the ache that welcomes the thought. ]

*his breath hitches and the fingers of the hand curled around Erik's side tighten*

[ just stays there like that for a while, aware of their bodies' contact through Charles.

and, of course, through himself, which allows awareness where Charles has none, pathways that go only one way where their legs touch.



he shifts his hand down Charles's side once again, though this time there's no upsweep, instead settling now to grasp Charles low on his hip. ]
