...well, he spent most of the day asleep. But he eventually wakes up and pulls himself together enough to head out to get a late lunch.]

[ Erik has been keeping his awareness extended throughout the day while Charles slept, and now that he's sensed the movement of the chair, he heads out as well to intercept him, holding something in his hand. ]

*He looks kind of worse for wear, but it appears to be just straightforward fatigue rather than anything deeper.*

*not staring at what Erik is holding with his eyes, but his noticing is palpable between them -- probably would be even without the telepathy*

He woke up yesterday. Was ready to tear out his IVs the second he opened his eyes.

[ not in any hurry to address it, either, the bastard ]

Not directly, but it certainly didn't hinder. Have you spoken to any of the others recently?

*looks pointedly to the helmet in Erik's hands*

[ and he holds the helmet out to Charles with one hand, a clear invitation ]

I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Phoenix.

And so we could cut off the one useful thing I could possibly do?

She's a telekinetic, Erik.

[ pulls his hand away to let the helmet hover between them ]

Which isn't sufficient reason not to use it if you need to.

*stares at the helmet like it might bite him, but doesn't back down from it. after a few moments, he finally reaches for it. he can't completely conceal the twitch in his expression as he fingers close around the edge -- it's like he doesn't even like touching it*

[ watching him closely, somewhat amused, but this is in spite of the awareness of what it means to him, which tempers his voice ]

It's just a tool, Charles.

*looks for just a couple seconds longer before he takes a firm hold of it and sets it in his lap.*
