[ and it's the sunlight that wakes Erik more effectively than anything -- even the low vocalisations of ambling gorillas on their way to drag resigned Campers to breakfast -- though by now he's learned to keep his own eyes closed against the brightness so as not to disturb Charles. it's not difficult; he's comfortable and also has nowhere to be (a novel concept that's still taking some adjusting to). ]
